Description

Class Experience

This class is called quick writes because every week I assign a new prompt and encourage students to discuss the topic in-depth before we get to writing. As a group, we will all collaborate, brainstorm and create rough drafts to help plan our journal entry for that lesson. 

Each meeting will consist of a random prompt which students will spin a wheel to decide on. Depending on the prompt, I will provide a graphic organizer, and basic information on the different types of writing.

Students will learn how to think creatively, and practice the art of writing. Students will also have the opportunity to work together and collaborate with one another.

The homework for every class will be to finish and refine their journal entry. They should submit these to me before the following class so that I may read and annotate them.

A designated journal for taking notes and writing.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

There will be no formal assessments. After every class, students will have to submit a journal entry which I will review and annotate. Parents/guardians are always welcome to ask for feedback on their student's performance.

35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
