Class Experience

Hello! In this one time class, your young learner and I will go on an imaginative trip through France, visiting a few well known locations as I introduce them to basic vocabulary about the four seasons. Your student will learn how to ask, "What's the weather doing?", the names of each of the four seasons, how to say "it's hot", how to say "it's windy", how to say "it's snowing", how to say "it's cold", and how to say "it's raining." Bonus vocabulary, related to the places we visit in France, will also be included as part of the lesson!

I like to focus on making my lessons feel engaging and fun for young learners, so I use a presentation filled with pictures of different well beloved places in France to guide the lesson! Each phrase and vocabulary term is written out on screen, so that your student can copy it down on a sheet of paper or into a notebook. I then ask students to repeat after me to learn the pronunciation of the given word or phrase. This way, students are introduced, early on, to how French both looks and sounds. Students are not required to have any prior knowledge of French when they join my classroom. All I ask for is enthusiasm and curiosity!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Teacher Tori, and I'm so excited to welcome your young learner into my classroom! Having worked as a Children's Musical Theatre Camp Choreographer, an Assistant Teacher at a Daycare, and a Personal Student Acting Coach, I discovered how much I truly love working with children. It brightens my day to help young learners explore new topics and get excited about learning: plus, my background in Theatre means I come at teaching in a way that is vibrant, creative, and imaginative!

Here on Outschool, I'm offering classes in two subject areas: Acting and French.

Having studied French extensively throughout both Middle and High-school, I earned a 5 (the highest possible score) on the AP French Exam my Senior year. Additionally, I was honored by the Honorary Consul of France, Pascal Soares, for my work as a French Student, in a ceremony hosted by Nazareth College. I'm currently pursuing a Minor in French at Hofstra University, after having tested out of French Level 3 (the highest level required of students in order to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree) my Freshman year of college.

My goal is to introduce your young student to the French Language, through individually offered classes, so that they not only get a basic sense of vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation, but also develop an early love for French. I hope that this love will encourage them to go beyond my classroom and dive deeper into the French language.

As an actress and director both on the stage and screen, I've had the joy of learning from some incredible teachers myself, and I hope to carry forward the knowledge that has empowered me as a performer. I'm currently pursuing a BFA in Acting at Hofstra University, having previously worked with and learned from both WallByrd Theatre Company and also many private teachers and coaches in dance, acting, and voice. To date, I've directed two feature length films and five short films, and likewise starred in multiple short films and stage productions such as "Chorus Line," "Dial M for Murder," and "Newsies." I have a passion for storytelling in a way that is meaningful and transformative, both for the creative team and the viewing audience. I also have a deeply rooted passion for Shakespeare, having portrayed Lady Macbeth, Rosalind, and Helena. Currently working and studying as an actress and director in the NYC area, I hope to empower young learners with very current, direct, and creative knowledge that'll allow them to expand and explore as performers.

Let's start learning!
