Description
Class Experience
Each class will highlight 3 innovative scientists from the LGBTQIA+ community. Each scientist will be introduced with a brief summary of their life and accomplishments followed by 2-3 discussion questions about the scientist. During the final 15-20 minutes of class, learners will have the opportunity to participate in a science activity based on one of featured scientist. Information on the scientists and class activities can be found below. Live captioning is available upon request....
Diversity, representation, and increased visibility of marginalized populations allows future scientists to have a greater variety of potential role models. Learners will explore the amazing scientific achievements of scientists from the LGBTQIA+ community as well as the challenges many of them had to overcome.
1 file available upon enrollmentA supply list for the next class will be posted on the Outschool class page 6 days prior to the next class or sent through an Outschool message if a learner joins after the class page post. I aim to use supplies that many learners can find around their home -- like markers, paper, etc. For supplies that are not common household items, I aim to keep the cost under $5 per week. I will always provide an alternative option that only uses common household items to accodate all learners.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
