Students will learn quadratic functions, graphs and solving equations. Class will be structured as 20-25 minutes lecture, followed by a 15 minutes Q&A and solution of several problems. Prerequisite is - students should be able to do basic operations with equations and solve complex linear equations. Students will learn 3 possible outcomes when solving an equation - 1. Solutions exist and are limited; 2. Solutions exist and there are unlimited quantity of solutions and 3. Solutions do not...
Students will learn all aspects of quadratic functions, including their graphs and "movements" of graphs. They will learn to have "feeling" of existence of solutions of a quadratic equation before attempting to solve.
Homework will consist of practice exercises available in the appropriate school level algebra books. For every practice exercise students will need to sketch a graph and solve the respective equation.
Lots of paper and pencils
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment of progress will be done.
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
