As someone who has taught Computer Science for the last ten years, I can really appreciate the importance of having a firm foundation. I stress understanding the concepts over finishing the problem. I'm inspired by the Socratic method and using probing questions to understand the students thought process as well as to elucidate my own thinking. One of the reasons I love teaching is that I never fail to learn something new from the student. By engaging with their point of view I am able to see things in a new light. I find computer science extremely beautiful and useful. I'd like to share that with all. This series focus on the __builtins__ module of python. These are all the objects (functions and variables) that are available without any imports. It is an exploratory class where we don't use loops or the if statement and instead look at the functionality that is available out of the box for various types of objects. I teach loops and the if statement and classes and all that great stuff but not in this class. Week of 6/1/2023: Colab Basics, What are objects?, exploring __builtins__, internet help, 'dir', 'type', 'print', Week of 6/8/2023: Integers, literals, 'int', 'abs' , 'divmod', Week of 6/15/2023: Decimals, 'float', 'pow', 'round', Week of 6/22/2023: Strings, 'str', 'input', f' formatting', 'sorted', 'reversed', Week of 6/29/2023: Unicode Characters and emojis', 'ascii', 'chr', 'ord', Week of 7/6/2023: Lists, 'list', 'len', 'max', 'min', 'sum', 'range', Week of 7/13/2023: Booleans, 'bool', 'True', 'False', Week of 7/20/2023: Sets and Tuples, 'set', 'tuple', Week of 7/27/2023: Dictionaries, 'dict', 'zip' Week of 8/4/2023: Elements of programming languages, what's next?, 'open', 'with', 'breakpoint',
