This class will demonstrate how to determine the lengths of the legs and hypotenuse of a right triangle. We will explore and explain the proofs of the Pythagorean Theorem the first part of the lesson. The second part of the lesson we will use the Pythagorean Theorem in real-world and mathematical problems. We will also use the converse of the Pythagorean Theorem to determine if the lengths of a triangle form a right triangle. I teach with slide presentations where I show and explain examples,...
The students will be able to determine the length of an unknown side of a right triangle using the Pythagorean Theorem and determine if the triangle is a right triangle using the converse.
2 files available upon enrollmentWorksheets will be provided to follow along with the lesson. The Activity worksheet will require SCISSORS to cut apart the squares and triangles that we will match up. A pencil and calculator would also be useful.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
