Description
Class Experience
Students will be taught the art of pyrography by learning step-by-step technique to apply a woodburning tool to wood, as we 'draw' and add dimension to our own simple sketches. Parent supervision is highly encouraged, as this tool can reach very high temperatures at the tip end where the burning is originated. We will apply our tool to wood with various pressures and techniques that will provide us the effects that we desire. I will show drawing of simple shapes and sketches that we will...
This class is taught in English.
Students will gain a comfort level with their woodburning tool and the skills behind its usage to create personal works of art and expression.
No assigned homework, only encouragement of practice to apply and expand their skills.
A wood burning tool purchased from a local craft store, and a piece or two of wood for burning. Craft stores traditionally keep pieces of wood that are friendly for burning near the wood burning tools. These are often of pine or bass wood material. This is for practice of new concepts, not a final project unless the learner chooses to continue with burning, so I advise a less expensive piece or two to start.
Personal assessment only and hopefully gaining of pride in their own skill applications and results.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
