This is class 4 in our lessons of instruction of Pyrography. I would highly encourage that a student has taken two or three of my prior classes, or has a comfort level with woodburning, before this particular one. This class will continue on past level 4 and can be signed up for multiple times with different focus areas each class time. Students will explore the art of pyrography by learning step-by-step technique to apply a woodburning tool to wood, as we 'draw' and add dimension to our own...
This class is taught in English.
No assigned homework, but continued practice with the tool is highly encouraged.
Your wood burning tool purchased from a local craft store, and a few pieces of wood for burning. Craft stores traditionally keep pieces of wood that are friendly for burning near the wood burning tools. These are often of pine or bass wood material. We will burn an image of focus on a piece of wood that the learner may wish to keep and work on further. Please also have a pair of pliers and a heatproof bowl or plate ready for hot tips if we choose to change tip during class. A piece of rough sandpaper to 'clean' off our tips when build-up has occurred and also to rough our wood prior to burning. *Additionally, if possible, please acquire some carbon paper for transfer of designs more easily so that our practice can be very focused.
Personal assessment only of pride in the learner's individual work and effort.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
