In this class, we will work together to learn the steps needed to create each portion of our adorable miniature cat and hamburger. Different camera views will be used to show each step of the way. We will condition, cut, roll and form our pieces. Then we will assemble our parts and get them prepared to be baked after class is over. The supplies are listed below and are necessary to complete the project the way it will be taught. I will go over how to lacquer the clay after baking if the students want a professional, glossy finished look. I will go over how to use soft pastels (chalk pastels) to create realistic food shading. Supplies: Polymer Bake Clay (any brand you prefer. I like to use Sculpey III) - grey, brown, tan, yellow, green, red, black Basic Sculpting tools, smoothing tool, cutting tool, small dotting tool or toothpick for eye sockets A non stick surface to work on A toothpick or jewelry/sculpting wire to hold hamburger tower together Optional: Soft Pastels (also called chalk pastels) for shading unbaked clay for a realistic food look...a toothpick and Q-tip for application Optional: Clear Polyurethane or glaze for after baking Black fine point Sharpie (permanent marker) for facial details **Polymer clay requires baking according to the package direction. (Generally ~275 °F, depending on your brand of clay). You will bake after class. Parental help is necessary.

*Ms. Lori (she/her)
B.F.A in Fashion Design
A.A.S in Illustration/Art History
A.A.S in Graphic Design
Hi there! I'm Lori—a Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) graduate with over 30 years of experience in the design industry. My journey spans from fashion illustration, pattern making, and garment construction to designing full storyboards for buyers. I’ve also tutored aspiring fashion designers in fashion illustration, helping them build professional portfolios for industry interviews.
While my current profession is in graphic design, fashion illustration remains my creative escape from the digital world. I believe that mastering the fundamentals of design unlocks endless possibilities, allowing you to bring your creative visions to life.
When I'm not sketching or designing, you’ll find me spending time with my furry little beasts—because animals are another passion of mine!
Ready to explore the world of fashion design and illustration? Let’s create something amazing together!

Graduate degree in Special Education
I’ve been in education for over 14 years, with 8 of those years as a special education teacher specializing in working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Blind or Visually Impaired, and those with diverse learning needs. I also have a strong background in technology integration and cybersecurity.
In addition to K-12 education, I’ve taught photography, film, video, and animation at Marquette University, where I also ran the Multimedia Technology Lab for over five years. My passion for education and technology led me to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, and I’m currently enrolled in an Information Technology graduate program. I’m also just 8 credits away from completing a graduate degree in Special Education.
My approach to learning is a mix of structure and flexibility—giving students the tools they need while encouraging independence, problem-solving, and self-advocacy. I enjoy incorporating technology, hands-on activities, and real-world applications to make learning meaningful and engaging.
Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about photography and travel, and I have a house full of rescue dogs who take their job as my personal “security team” very seriously. Looking forward to connecting!
