Students will be encouraged to do further reasearch and reading about positive puppy training and crate training.Class Experience
Hi, I love using positive reinforcement training as I help my puppy learn new skills. Potty training can go smoother and easier using this method and knowing some important basic steps in training. As a new puppy owner you will experience potty accidents with your puppy and this class will help you make this an easier task to handle and prevent. This class will discuss how to set-up a safe area for your puppy and use routines and rewards to help your puppy learn to go potty outdoors. We will cover how to crate train and how crate training makes potty training quicker and easier. I will show the class pictures and videos of my puppy crate and play area and discuss how it works and things for you to think about for your puppy needs. By learning about crate training, creating a safe puppy area and how routines and rewards can help your puppy not only stay safe but learn to go outside to potty; you can enjoy your puppy and have a positive attitude toward training your new family member! Students can take part of discussions and discuss the set up they have or plan to use. We will discuss things to consider in your own home such as: stairs, access to outdoors, leash use, and clean up. This class will give the student practical and safe ways to set up their own home space for their puppy. Puppies can be such a great joy! Come learn how to set your puppy up for potty training success!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about frequency of puppy's potty needs(learning signs, how routines help, how crate training helps and the purpose of treats for training). Student will learn about crate training; as a large and important part of successful puppy potty training: types of crates and sizes, how to use them, when and how to encourage puppy to use crate, and what not to do in crate training. Students will see photos and videos of teacher's puppy's play area, crate and puppy! Students will be encouraged to share if they have a puppy and what set up or problems they have or when they plan to get a puppy.
