Punished! is a funny story that will have your child laughing and using words in an EGG-citing way! During this novel study students will enhance their critical thinking skills through book talks. It is also Common Core Aligned. This book study will introduce students to figurative language while enhancing their reading skills. It includes comprehension questions and activities for each chapter. Activities include character analysis, compare & contrast, vocabulary, graphic organizers,...
My experience in teaching this novel to students has been amazing! Students love the funny word play and always have rewarding discussion with each other. Every time I have taught this class it has been a success. I teach with enthusiasm and I make it fun as I am a big kid myself! I teach this class to the level of the students and challenge them to go beyond the book and deeper. Most recently, I have taught this class with gifted students, but again I adjust accordingly.
Students will have to obtain a copy of Punished! by David Lubar from their local library or purchase it elsewhere such as amazon ($6.99). All other handouts will be provided. Students will also need to obtain resources/materials for whatever Book Project they choose.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
