Beginner Level
Grammar and proper punctuation marks help with fluency and reading comprehension. If a sentence is improperly punctuated, the intended meaning of the sentence could be lost in translation. Proper punctuating within the sentence is just as important as proper punctuating at the end of a sentence. Students will learn proper punctuation within the sentence (comma, colon, parentheses) and proper punctuation at the end of a sentence (period, question mark, exclamation point) as well as punctuating the different types of sentences. Week 1 Day (1): What is a sentence; Capitalization and the Period (Declarative Sentence); Introduction to the Comma Week 1 Day (2) Review; The Comma Week 2 Day (1): Introduction to the Colon; Introduction to the Question Mark (Interrogative Sentence) Week 2 Day (2) Review; The Colon; Interrogative Sentence Week 3 Day (1): Introduction to the Quotation Marks; Introduction to the Imperative Sentence Week 3 Day (2) Review; Quotation Marks; Imperative Sentence Week 4 Day (1): Introduction to the Parentheses; Introduction to Exclamatory Sentences (Exclamation Point) Week 4 Day (2) Imperative Sentence; Parentheses; Review

Teacher expertise and credentials
Greetings! My name is Vikki Harris . For the past 14 years, I have been working as a substitute teacher for a New York school district. I have had the pleasure of working with different types of students (Special Needs, ESL/ELL, Support Services, 1:1) with different learning styles and abilities. Also, I work with all grade levels, K-12. My focus has always been English. The majority of my assignments have been teaching English classes at the high school and middle school but I enjoy working with the younger students as well, helping them to build a strong English foundation.
I live by the strong belief that "Everyone has the right to a sound education."
Remember back when you had a substitute teacher in your classroom. Well, some things never change!
