Description

Class Experience

In this class we will discuss what characteristics pumpkins have. Learners will observe the teacher cutting into a pumpkin and describing the smells, textures, etc. We will make a list of ways we use pumpkins and what we observe about them. Using our investigative strategies, we will take note of the parts of the pumpkin and how we can measure the pumpkin's attributes. 

Learners do not need to have an in depth understanding of pumpkins. The class will provide a simple overview of the pumpkin...

Students will explore pumpkins and relate their learnings to prior knowledge and experiences.

Learners may have paper and crayons/markers/colored pencils with them if they would like to draw what they are seeing during the lesson. It is not required, they can simply watch and listen.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Students will only observe the science experiment. If they want to recreate the lesson on their own, please provide assistance with cutting utensils.
