Description
Class Experience
In this class, we will explore the parts of a pumpkin by cutting it open (by an adult before class begins, please!), and digging inside with hands and tools. We will identify the parts of a pumpkin, including: leaf, stem, vine, skin, flesh, pulp, and seeds. I will provide photos to make sure we can identify all parts as the stem might be destroyed while cutting and you might not have any vines or leaves unless you cut your pumpkin from the vine. The class will begin with a short slide show...
Students will need: * a pumpkin cut in half from top to bottom by a grown up before class begins * something to protect the surface, such as newspaper or plastic/vinyl tablecloth or a tarp * kitchen tools such as a strainer, a pumpkin scraper or large spoon * old clothes or an apron/art smock-pumpkins are messy! * a clean up station nearby
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
