Pumping Iron: Follow Iron From Digestion to Recycling or Blood Loss
In this one-time class for learners wanting to dig deeper, we will follow iron from our food to our blood. We can bleed from all sorts of places and lose the iron or recycle it when our blood cells wear out.

Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will develop an understanding of how the seemingly separate organ systems in the human body actually work together in amazing ways!
As a family physician with a decade in private practice, I love teaching young people about how their bodies work. I believe that people who understand their bodies will take better care of them. After teaching nearly 1000 students on Outschool, many of whom stay with me long term, I am an expert at taking the high level science and making it accessible to young people.
1 file available upon enrollment**Diagram I provide, which will need to be printed prior to class as it will be used as an outline during class that we will color as we work through it, and a memory aid the learner can keep after class **Colored pens, pencils, or markers
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Nothing in this class will be or is intended to be medical advice. This is merely educational in nature and will be a surface-level overview. Your student will not be coming out of this class knowing anything about how to diagnose or treat related conditions and we will not be discussing any personal medical questions/needs. Students should come with general questions about the topic.
