1 in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This is an ongoing club and will take 1-hour each week. In this club, my goal is to help students learn the fundamentals of public speaking and help them become more comfortable giving a presentation. This is both for beginners and any student who wants to keep sharpening their public speaking skills. This is how the days will be laid out: The first 10-15 minutes will be instruction on a different topic every week. In the next 10 minutes, the students will have time to make a speech. Then the students will give a 1-2 minute speech with 1 - 2 minutes of feedback. Here is what will be covered in this club: 1. The do's and don'ts of giving a presentation 2. How to craft your own speech or presentation 3. Effective non-verbal communication techniques 4. Students will have time to create and deliver a 2-minute presentation 5. Students will receive feedback on their presentation and what they can do better the next time they present. 6. Students will have the opportunity to give each other feedback, so they can learn what to look out for if they record themselves. Here are just some topics that will be covered in the class every week: - Hand gestures - Speech organization - How to open a speech - How to close a speech - Storytelling - Improv Speech - Nonverbal communication - Inspirational speaking - Using props in a speech
