Class Experience
Throughout this course, students will research, explore, prepare and present. All of these abilities are crucial in middle school, high school, college and the workforce. I have seen this first hand in undergraduate schooling, graduate schooling and the workforce. Students will first research a topic of interest and find a current event associated with their topic. Students will build valuable public speaking skills while researching and exploring current events of their choice.
Hi learners and parents! I currently am a credentialed teacher in Washington State and hold my endorsements in biology (5-12), health (K-12) and fitness (K-12). I currently teach AP Biology, honors biology, anatomy and physiology and health science. I have been selected to speak in front of large groups at multiple points in my academic and professional career, i.e. All School Meetings, Luncheons, Professional Development Presentations, etc. Last year, I taught biology, environmental science, health, physics and P.E. to middle and high school students. I hold my Masters Degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in life sciences and health. I received my Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training from Whitworth University. I completed 1,250 clinical hours in physical therapy clinics, collegiate, semi-professional and high school athletic training rooms, emergency rooms and urgent cares.
Students will work individually each week to research a topic underneath the given category and present the information in 3-5 minutes.
Students will be provided with links to current event articles each week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Current event content will remain appropriate for the age group.
