Welcome to my multi class of Speak the Speech.

This is a multi class public speaking course. This course is engaging, informative and will provide students with the skills needed to write and deliver an impressive speech. This course will equip students with the skills they need to speak with confidence and provide practical tips to overcome anxiety whilst speaking in public.
The skills that will be taught are transferable, so whether your child has a classroom presentation, interviewing for an entrance exam,or they need to develop greater confidence whilst speaking among peers and adults then this course is for them. Every lesson will have an element of theoretical discussion and practical activities. Every lesson students will engage in practical vocal exercises and tasks building upon the skills they have learned from the previous lesson. This course will be delivered over 5 weeks.Students will be provided with a certificate.

Lesson 1 - An interactive lesson with ice-breakers, games and the foundational skills of public speaking will be incorporated. They will learn about the different forms of communication and the importance of voice and body in public speaking. They will be given practical tips on managing nerves. This lesson I will gather a greater understanding of the students areas for development.

Lesson 2 - This lesson will begin with a game associated with gestures to develop their understanding of non-verbal communication. We will then study body language and have a classroom discussion. Students will then have the opportunity to put everything they have been taught into practice. Students will be given feedback on their progress.

Lesson 3- Express yourself - Ever wondered how to avoid sounding monotonous? Students will learn the secrets of how to command the attention of an entire room and engage listeners with their voice This lesson will focus on vocal expression. Theoretical examples classroom discussion and solidifying new information with a mini presentation.

Lesson 4 -Lets get writing -Students will learn how to write effective, powerful speeches. We will look at language techniques used by the most influential speakers of our time to make powerful speeches and practice vocalising these techniques. Students will then use this as a springboard to brainstorm their own speech ideas. Students will also have to work on a group exercise involving a persuasion challenge.

Lesson 5 - This lesson will begin with a warm up activity which is related to pronunciation. Students will then share their written ideas and working drafts. We will discuss and share our work as a group before they give their final presentation in this class.

I love teaching and creating an imaginative learning environment. I believe every child can learn and grow in a safe stimulating space. I strongly believe intelligence and learning come from a positive attitude. Both from the teacher and the learner. I promote a Growth Mindset in my classes.
If your child is a high achiever, speaks English as a second language or has a special educational need. Then I can accommodate your child in my classes.
I am a certified teacher of English and Drama. I have a Masters in Education and a Bachelors degree in English and Drama. I have experience of teaching Speech and Drama in Singapore. I have taught students public speaking, pronunciation development, interview techniques and LAMDA qualifications.
I am currently employed full time teaching Secondary School GCSE English Literature and Language. This allows me to keep abreast of the latest curriculum changes.

My endeavour as a teacher of English and Drama is to inspire learners to think for themselves. Socrates said ‘I cannot teach anybody anything I can only make them think.’ This is a philosophy I strongly believe. I teach my students to be independent critical thinkers and speakers. I encourage collaborative working and discussion. I also build a child's confidence.

When learners say to me ‘I can’t do it.
I respond with ‘I can’t do it YET!.’

English Literature and Language is accessible to all learners. It might just be the case that your child needs more one to one support. that they can't get in the classroom with 30 other children.
Teaching is a specialist profession one which requires knowledge, time and patience.
I look forward to hearing from you.
