Class Experience

In this class, learners will be taught the crucial skills needed to confidently grow public speaking skills such as:

 -Body language
 -Eye contact
 -Clear speaking
 -Passion
 -Coherence and Clarity

My class is structured in a way which allows students personal time to write, refine, and produce well written presentations. Because our class meets once a week for 8 weeks, students will have time to grow throughout the course, and can develop necessary skills to excel in the classroom and outside the classroom.
My teaching style is active and engaging. This means that students will not sit through boring lectures, or just listen to me talk the entire time. Rather, students will be encouraged to ask questions, put in their ideas and thoughts, and share their speeches with the class.
Learners will interact through fun videos, slide shows, and engaging activities such as games like "the hot air balloon game" (a class favorite) where they have to speak to stay on a hot air balloon as it descends to the earth.
Learning Goals
Each learner will build skills and gain confidence to present well in class.
Each learner will develop skills to present in formal settings.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I currently teach classes on debate, speech, and public speaking skills!
I am so excited to teach your learner about these topics, and more.
I have experience working with kids through volunteer services that engage new students with high school life. I competed as one of the top 10% of debaters in the nation at the 2024 National Speech and Debate tournament. I also served as Lincoln Douglas debate captain last year, fostering a very successful novice team!

I believe that every child learns in a different way, which means that I can -and will- change my curriculum based on what each learner desires and needs. I also believe that learning should be fun! No one wants to sit in a boring lecture, so my classes are both engaging and active!!

Something fun about myself is that I have a yorkie named "Ted" because he looks like a teddy bear!
