What will I teach? I will teach students the fundamentals of delivering an effective speech, focusing on clarity, confidence, and persuasiveness. Students will also learn how to craft strong arguments and overcome shyness to communicate their ideas effectively. What topics will I cover? We’ll cover the essentials of public speaking, including speech structure, preparation techniques, persuasive communication, and strategies for building confidence in front of an audience. How is my class structured? Each session will include a brief lecture to introduce the material, followed by group discussions. Students will then prepare and deliver speeches based on speaking drills and prompts, ending with a group reflection to review performances and provide constructive feedback. How will I teach? I use a hands-on approach where students actively practice speaking in every class. Through drills, discussions, and real-time feedback, I’ll guide students in improving their public speaking skills step-by-step. What’s my teaching style? My teaching style is practical, supportive, and interactive. I believe students learn best by doing, so I encourage them to give as many speeches as possible, offering constructive feedback to help them grow with each attempt. How much will learners interact with me? Students will interact with me throughout the class via discussions, speech preparation, and personalized feedback. I’ll work closely with them to ensure they understand the material and feel confident applying it.

This class is 1-on-1, so I’m patient and adaptable to a wide array of learning needs, including ADHD. I understand how hard it can be for students with unique needs to focus, so my classes are designed to provide the support they need.

With nearly 20 years of competitive debate experience and as a national-qualifying debater, I have taught debate across the United States, including at Harvard’s summer debate camp, as well as internationally in Thailand, China, Vietnam, and New York City.
