The power of public speaking is priceless, and it is a skill that benefits multiple areas of our lives. Students will develop and polish the power of their words. Learners will harness the expertise of demonstrative, persuasive, and informative speech techniques. This interactive class will have students designing and presenting their speeches. The teacher will offer topics, techniques, and suggestions. Topics will range from silly to in-depth. Demonstrative speeches will include props provided by the student (optional). Willingness to speak in front of new friends in Outschool is necessary. I have a B.A. in Communications and coached our school Speech Team. Lesson Plan: Greet students. Classroom expectations. Discuss speaking techniques. Choose the type of speech: demonstrative, persuasive, or informative. Students will be given a moment to prepare the speech. The student is given one minute to speak. The class will encourage the student. Tips and strategies will be given.

Currently, I am a certified 4th-grade teacher and I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Psychology. I am pursuing my Master’s in Educational Leadership (which means I am studying to become a school principal). Additionally, I was a paraprofessional for students with special needs.
My teaching philosophy is about finding joy in learning. When a student is intrigued, then the learning has already begun. I strive for the "Eureka" moments in education, because those moments are born from determination. It is rewarding to find the key that unlocks a student's mind. As I brainstorm lessons for Outschool, it is exciting to know that I am only limited by my own imagination. *For your convenience, subscribe to this: https://status.outschool.com/
