🎓Work with a communication professor and professional speaker with over a decade of experience 📣🗣️ ✨ ✨Being an effective and confident public speaker is not easy, especially without the right training, but learning how to communicate is a crucial life skill that children need to be successful academically and personally. ✨ ✨ 😄This class will use games and role-playing to teach important public speaking skills while making the class fun and interactive. The best way to learn about public speaking is to practice speaking! I strive to make my classes both fun and comfortable for nervous speakers. Breakdown of Activities: - 👎The Very Bad Speech: Students will practice doing a short (30 - 60 seconds) "bad speech" in which they have to speak using vocalized fillers (uh, um) or be monotone, or engage in some other poor delivery technique to have fun with some of the things they want to avoid. - 🎷Your Voice as an Instrument: Students practice techniques for altering pitch, pace, projection, and inflection to make their presentation more engaging. - ❤️The Thing I Love: Students will get to practice the "psych up" method to help them with their nerves and talk about one thing they love (hobby, person, etc.) No prior public speaking experience is needed, and beginners are welcome! Students will get to interact in discussions before the activities listed above and will also be able to complement the "Thing I Love Speech."

I am a passionate and engaging educator with over 15 years of experience helping students become confident communicators. As a college professor, I teach communication courses such as Public Speaking, Argumentation, and Interpersonal Communication. I’ve helped countless students overcome speech anxiety by applying scientifically-backed strategies to build confidence and improve performance.
I use the same communication theories that I teach in my college courses to help younger learners develop essential skills, making these concepts both accessible and engaging. By adapting these principles to fit their needs, I empower students to confidently approach challenges like public speaking, interviews, and even the college admissions process. I’ve helped many students ace interviews for college admissions, jobs, and coveted scholarships, providing them with the tools to succeed in high-stakes situations.
With a background in Rhetorical Communication and Gender Studies, I tailor my lessons to address each student’s unique goals, ensuring they gain both the confidence and skills they need to excel in interviews and presentations. As a mom of three, I understand the importance of clear and effective communication and am dedicated to helping every student unlock their potential.
