Public Speaking Junior: Building Confidence by Telling Silly Jokes
In this one time class students will practice public speaking through the art of comedy. Students will learn new age appropriate jokes that they can tell to their friends and relatives.
Students love silly jokes, but often struggle when trying to tell them. How many times have you heard your child try to tell a joke that they did not understand, could not fully remember, or delivered without confidence? In this class, students will learn between 20-30 new jokes that they can add to their comedy routines. Teacher will present the jokes on slides, and use images and class discussion to help with understanding. Joke telling will be modeled and practiced together as a group....
Students will learn 20 -30 new jokes. They will understand the punchlines, and will practice delivering jokes with confidence.
I have taught public speaking as a part of my ELA curriculum for over 10 years. This is an area where many students struggle to feel comfortable. I have found that learning how to tell a joke properly is a springboard for future public speaking success.
A handout will be given with all of the jokes covered in this class.
All jokes will be age appropriate.
