Speaking off the cuff is a natural part of our daily lives. But doing it well is one of the most important skills a person can have. This is especially challenging when you are practicing another language. The goal of this class is to provide the guidance and encouragement to cultivate that skill early so that the learners can quickly formulate, organize, and share their ideas and thoughts in a compelling and cohesive way. And, they will do it in Spanish :) In this class, we discuss the pros, cons, and how-to of making an impromptu speech. We discuss how it is different from normal speech styles, and how you can successfully make a compelling speech out of thin air! We will cover the basics of tapping into your main ideas, gaining the confidence to speak in front of an audience, and the basics of what makes a speech compelling. This course includes a heavy emphasis on thinking outside the box and being your true self while enhancing public speaking skills and self-confidence. Each class will start with a quick recap of the process and a warm-up exercise. Then, the learners will be given a prompt (that will not be posted in advance) and will be given 10 minutes to formulate their response, organize it into a speech format, and then present a compelling speech. The learner will first present their speech in English, and then in Spanish. It's natural and normal for learners to feel a bit nervous the first few times. But the more they do it, the more confident they become and the more the nerves subside creating a stronger speaker. Each speech will be followed up with feedback from the teacher and other learners. While we will provide critiques, the main goal is to build self-confidence in public speaking situations. Learning goals: - Students should leave with beginner level knowledge for the following: -What makes a good impromptu speech -How to select and enhance key speaking points -How to manage the fear of public speaking This is an ongoing class so learners can start or stop anytime. This class is backed by Outschool's 100% Happiness Guarantee. Please note we also offer an English only version of this class.
