Public speaking is an invaluable skill that many people lack. It does not come naturally for most and takes practice; the goal of this class is not necessarily for students to become comfortable with public speaking, but to become *less uncomfortable* with the process. Students will learn what it takes to deliver an effective speech, as well as tips & tricks that help reduce nerves before and during the speech. My Master's Degree is in Education; I have taught high school English and various electives, including AP English: Language & Composition and The Structure & Analysis of Film since 2008. Additionally I have worked on committees to ensure curriculum is up-to-date and meaningful, have mentored students during high school & as they prepare for college and/or the workforce (which includes public speaking and interviewing skills), and have offered a variety of online classes since 2021.
A notebook and pen/pencil if desired, but not required. A handout will be provided at the beginning of class.
