What is a LAMDA Exam? The LAMDA Exam is the performance and communication equivalent of a music exam; there are 8 Grades with each one being marked as a Pass, Merit, or Distinction. LAMDA stands for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and is one of the oldest drama schools in the world! It’s trained some very well-known actors including Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ruth Wilson, and Sam Claflin. LAMDA Exams are designed for young people to help them improve and develop their self-confidence, vocal and physical skills as well as creativity. LAMDA Exams aren’t just for young people who want to pursue acting as a career the skills LAMDA teaches are applicable in any walk of life! They’ve even been known to help young people to stand out in school and university interviews. Why should I take a LAMDA Exam? There are lots of reasons to take a LAMDA Exam. The one we hear about most often from our learners is confidence. By developing their communication skills our learners are improving their levels of self-assurance, confidence in the knowledge that they can articulate their thoughts and ideas, and importantly make their voice heard. Other benefits include reading fluency, a broader vocabulary, enhanced memory and recall, improved English language skills, and the ability to structure an argument Preparing for a LAMDA Exam helps everyone develop the life skills that are so important for a happy, successful, and fulfilled life. Once you have passed a LAMDA Exam, you will have earned a qualification that is recognised all over the world that you can use to add to your CV, resume, or university application. You can even earn UCAS points to help with university entry. How can I take a LAMDA exam? I can arrange for you to sit a LAMDA exam either online via Zoom or, if you're based in the UK, at a local public centre. How much does a LAMDA exam cost? Between £30-£98 depending on the grade. Please note I recommend a minimum of 20 lessons before entering students for examination.
