Welcome to my class! Did you know that having a fear of public speaking is thought to be present in around 75% of the population? It is an extremely common phobia, but luckily, one that can be overcome. In this class, we will be learning the skills of public speaking. We will be discussing the different types of public speaking, how public speaking is used in real life, and the importance of public speaking skills. We will then be going over several tips and tricks to help ease the nervousness of speaking in public. Students will be encouraged to engage in discussion questions, and voice their opinions through small debates with their classmates (Tangled or Frozen?, Spiderman or Batman?). Students are not expected to have any sort of experience in public speaking prior to this class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the skills of public speaking. Students will be able to put the discussed tips and tricks into practice through a small speech to the class.
