Class Experience

Welcome to Public Speaking for Beginners!  In this class, we will discover not only WHY speaking is so very important but HOW to speak in public.  One of the most important things to know about this class, we will work with you to find your way of presenting while tying it to your genius zone!  

We will have different speaking assignments and every week we will have a mini-speech. Below is a tentative schedule.  This class is structured as a mix of lecture, discussions, and applications. ...

This class is taught in English.

Students will learn the basics of speech and how to formulate a speech.  Priorities will focus on how to not only prepare but deliver and engage with his/her audience.

Major assignments will be reviewed during syllabus day.  No formal exams will be given, the purpose of this class is to learn how to speak effectively.  

Major assignments include: 
Teach Me Something (Demonstration Speech)
Tell Me a Story (Informative Speech) 
Make Me Care (Persuasive Speech)
Group Effort! (Group Presentation)

If additional resources are needed, the teacher will let the class know with ample time to find.  Most information will be given in class with handouts/workbooks, if needed, sent by the professor.

This is a pass/fail

1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

We will be referencing some YouTube videos to help explain or show examples of our topics.  All videos will be age appropriate.
