Calling all fans of Taylor Swift or learners interested in psychology! 

In this class, we will use Taylor Swift song lyrics to further our understanding of major psychological theories. 

The lessons are part lecture and part discussion. Not only will be discuss how the song lyrics fit into our weekly theme, we will also practice critically thinking about scientific research. I will provide worksheets for homework. Learners are welcome to turn in their worksheet each week for feedback. 

No prior knowledge of psychology is needed.

Syllabus

2 Lessons
over 2 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Psychology of Taylor Swift (lesson 1)
 In our first lesson, we will discover how Taylor Swift lyrics are related to themes of identity, friendship, honor, and revenge. I will discuss current psychological research and provide examples of how lyrics demonstrate each theme. After each theme, we will have an interactive activity where learners work together to identify these themes in songs they choose. We will end class with a review game.

Lesson 2:
Psychology of Taylor Swift (lesson 2)
 In our second lesson, we will discuss the themes of depression, secrets, death, and love. I will share psychological research studies and example of how song lyrics fit these themes. Then, learners will have a chance to identity themes from songs they choose. We will end class with a review game.
