Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner Level
Have you ever wondered what exactly is narcissism? Or how you can know when you meet someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder? Or if narcissists ever change? We answer these questions and more in this class.

This class is ideal for learners who have an interest in understanding Narcissistic Personality Disorder. No prior experience is needed for this class, only an interest in personality disorders.

This is an educational, fact-based course, and not a counseling or therapy group.

Because research says students learn better when relaxed, learners will not be called on. Chat box polls will be used to encourage participation. Participation is welcomed but never required.

The class will have five sections.
I. Define Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), based on criteria listed in the Diagnostical & Statistical Manuel of Mental Disorders
II. Define four terms associated with NPD
III. List and describe four different types of narcissism
IV. Seven strategies to survive/thrive during long-term contact with individuals with NPD

I have a structured, yet humor-filled teaching style, designed to keep student's interest, and help learner's feel comfortable. I'll use slides and class outline to reinforce concepts, as well.

Learning Goals

1. Be able to define Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)
2. Be able to define terms associated with NPD
3. Be aware of different types of narcissism
4. Be able to identify strategies to survive/thrive during long-term contact with individuals with NPD
