In social science of psychology, we learn to understand our minds and how they move us forward in life. In this course we will study behaviors, emotions, and how we learn in alignment with the National Standards for High School Psychology.

Class Experience
Learning Goals and Objectives listed out in alignment to the National Standards for High School Psychology in the US, there may be overlap in your country's standard as they will align to courses in Psychology 101. Biology of Behavior Unit: Content Standards-After concluding this unit, students understand: 1. Structure and function of the nervous system in human and non-human animals 2. Structure and function of the endocrine system 3. The interaction between biological factors and experience 4. Methods and issues related to biological advances Psychology of Learning Unit: Content Standards-After concluding this unit, students understand: 1. Classical conditioning 2. Operant conditioning 3. Observational and cognitive learning Psychology of Emotion Unit: Content Standards-After concluding this unit, students understand: 1. Perspectives on emotion 2. Emotional interpretation and expression 3. Domains of emotional behavior

I am a college level adjunct professor of Psychology for Psychology 101 and student success courses. I have over 11 years in the standard classroom setting (K-12) and over 4 years ESL online teaching. I have been honored to be a special education director, dean of students and work as a trainer of other district staff at the state department level. All the activities and assignments are created for a Flex-Course and would be considered homework. Each learner will complete at their pace and could range from 1 to 3 hours a week. There will also be extension assignments that are not manditory to are provided as an extension or challenge for those want to look deeper (or student with gifted learning styles).
It is recommended that each learner have a dedicated notebook or folder for this course so they can keep their notes and materials organized. Please come prepared to your Flex as you would for an in-person course. I look forward to our weeks together and sharing my passion for psychology.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
