US Grade 4 - 7
(Class 4 of 4) In this class, we will learn about the Temporal Lobe of the brain. We will discuss what the Temporal Lobe does, what it controls, how our auditory system impacts our Temporal Lobe and memory, functions of the Temporal Lobe, and discuss a short video about Synesthesia. Auditory processes, speech and language recognition, and long-term memory formation will be discussed and simplified. A model of the brain will be used to locate the Temporal Lobe. This class is structured with power-point slides that are easy to follow along with. I believe in teaching the students through experiences rather than memorization. The more the students participate and interact with fellow students and the teacher, the more we will get out of the class. I use a person-centered and positive teaching approach. All that is required of this class is to be ready to have fun. Let's have fun and dive into the complex world of the human brain!
Learning Goals
The student will learn the location of the Temporal Lobe, functions, and fun facts. The student will learn about the interesting case of Synesthesia, auditory processes, speech and language recognition, and long-term memory formation.
