Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
This is a one time class and will be full of information.
This is the first class to my psychological disorders multi day session in case you have taken that course before.

This class is an overview of what psychological disorders are. With mostly lecture, it will be based off a power point and we will also have discussions.
Other than examples and references, we will not discuss details about disorders. If interested on learning detailed information on disorders, you can take my multi-day course:

What we'll cover:

-We will start with defining psychological disorders;
What makes a disorder a disorder?
What makes a disorder different from what we consider "normal"?

-We will then talk about classifying these disorders;
How do they group classify these disorders? Why?

-We will then talk about labeling;
What does labeling mean to psychologists, what do they mean to people?

We will also discuss different perspectives on disorders such as biological perspectives vs medical perspectives.

At the end of class students will have a general idea of what psychological disorders are.

Participation in discussion is encouraged, we learn better about psychology when we share our thoughts and perspectives in a respectful manner.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
