Class Experience

US Grade 10 - 11
The PSAT/NMSQT is hiding a secret.

The PSAT taken in eighth or ninth grade is seen as a low-stakes version of the real-deal SAT. And it is.

But come sophomore or junior year, the name of the test subtly changes from PSAT to PSAT/NMSQT. And the second part stands for National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This prestigious scholarship is given to .05% of students who are awarded $2,500.

But here's the secret: being a National Merit Scholar opens the door to university and corporate scholarships which range from a few hundred dollars to full rides.

That's right: a full ride from the PSAT...not the SAT.

So, by signing up for this class, the worst case scenario is that you start training for the SAT a couple of years early. And the best case scenario is getting a score high enough to earn a scholarship.*

What you can expect from this class:

Each week, we'll focus on one reading question type and one grammar concept. We'll start with reading. After presenting the question type and walking through the strategies of how to answer it correctly, we'll spend time working on practice questions. Then, it'll be time for grammar. We'll discuss the rules and ways to approach the questions. Finally, we'll spend time dissecting some grammar practice questions.

For the complete schedule, please check the syllabus.

How to decide between this camp and my other camps:

-This camp is perfect for students going into 10th or 11th grade. All of the practice questions will come from the PSAT/NMSQT.
-If your child is in middle school, I recommend my summer camp for the PSAT 8/9. The PSAT 8/9 is not tied to any scholarships, nor is it sent to any schools. Instead, it's a way for students to be exposed to the SAT and be familiarized with its content. The content for that class is identical to this one. The only difference is that the practice questions will come from the PSAT 8/9.
-If your child is going into 11th or 12th grade, I recommend my summer camp for the Digital SAT. The content is slightly more difficult than the PSAT camps and all of the question types come from the SAT.

Extra information: The PSAT/NMSQT is taken some time in the month of October 2024 (depends on the school). This summer is a great time to learn the foundational skills so that learners can study on their own leading up to the test. I'll provide resources at the end of the bootcamp to set the learners up for success.

Learning Goals

Students will feel confident on test day, as they will know how to tackle the Digital PSAT English section. For the reading section, they'll better understand the passages and how to apply process of elimination. For grammar, they'll be familiar with rules
