Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to format a letter, take part in a discussion on the letter content, identify a polite and impolite tone and how to express thankfulness and think about others.
Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English and Theatre Arts at university, I've almost 20 years experience in teaching English in primary schools (4-11-year-olds). Over those years I have regularly worked with groups of children specifically on English writing skills. I've also had lots of practice in talking to children about Christmas wishes, after having assisted Santa at various Christmas Fayres and Grottos as both an elf and Mrs Claus over the years!
No formal homework will be set but some learners may need to finish copying out their draft onto the template letter and decorating it after class.
1 file available upon enrollmentSomething to write with. Some spare paper for the rough draft. A copy/ copies of the provided letter template (it may be a good idea to print more than one copy for use in the class, or to print double-sided copies). Crayons/ pencils/ markers to decorate the letter if time or for after class.
Informal assessment during class.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
No sensitive issues are anticipated. Any discussion on whether Santa may realistically bring any gift that has been asked for will be directed to parents!
