Class Experience

Learners will learn how to draw their face with proportional accuracy for the placement of the eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth and ears. The directions will be explained in a step-by-step manner for the guidelines and placement of each facial part that will provide a successful experience for each student. At the beginning of the first class, the learners will sketch a quick drawing of what they currently know to start off the workshop and this sketch will be great fun for comparison of what they learn, after the workshop is over. Then, they will be guided in the face set-up and placement for each part. Then, explanations will cover the placement of the eyes and some details for drawing the eyes and eyebrows. The next class will cover the placement and sketching for the nose and the mouth. Then, we will cover the ears placement and suggestions for sketching the hairstyle. Learners will then sketch their own portrait with the knowledge of the placement learned in this class.

Learning Goals

Learners will draw their own face and the facial parts, proportionately accurate, with guidance for great success!

I have been a practicing Artist and Teacher in the public school system for 25 years. I believe that the basics create a strong foundation for learning and allowing students to gain the confidence they need for continuing with their own drawing style and future artistic projects. I have learned that making mistakes is part of the process and the more comfortable students get with that concept, the better their artwork turns out.
