Class Experience

Are you interested in computer games? Are you curious how they work?

Take your interest in computers to a whole new level by becoming a programmer! In this class, we will learn the basics of coding while creating a game. We'll use Scratch, a block-based programming tool, to learn computer science concepts. We'll put our minds together to plan, create, troubleshoot, and play our own computer games.

As a group, we'll decide what kind of game to make. Choose from a chase game, an animated adventure, a choose your own adventure story, or a Pong-style game.

Learners will start a new creation each time they take this class, so it's never the same experience twice!

This course is also a fun experience for a birthday party, Scout troop, club, or virtual playdate. Reach out and we'll set something up!

***Learners will need a Scratch account before joining the class. Learners should know their username and password and be able to log in to Scratch. Sign up for a Scratch account at https://scratch.mit.edu/ ***

Learning Goals

Students will learn block-based programming. Students will experience computer science and programming concepts and vocabulary, including objects, variables, properties, conditionals, and loops.
