Does your student spend hours drawing on their iPad? In "Meet The Masters...With a Digital Twist" we will harness that curiosity and passion and use it to interact with the great masters of art history. **This class assumes an understanding of Procreate! I will not be teaching the apps in this class, rather USING the apps to explore art history through the various mediums and methods they provide** if your student needs to learn how to use Procreate, please see my Intro series before enrolling in the "Meet The Masters" classes! Through the six weeks of our study of Warhol we will look at the art movements of Warhol's pop culture immersion. We will explore: Art History - Introduce students to Andy Warhol through video(s) (through YouTube videos embedded within the Outschool classroom) , and biography worksheet. Art Analysis - Have students analyze the screen-printing process and compare and contrast two pieces of Warhol’s art. Production - Have students create weekly pop art inspired work by using what they have learned in this class. Week One: Introduction to screen printing. Combining photography and painting techniques. Week Two: Soup cans and the shading of cylinders Week Three: Repeat patterns of soup cans Pop art is defined a, "... art based on modern popular culture and the mass media" We will look at pop art methods used today for the remainder of our classes- all inspired by Andy Warhol. Week Four: Pop art animal Week Five: Pop art typography Week Six: Pop art people- using popular texture techniques to create unexpected dimension Remember that a working understanding of Procreate is needed for this class- I have an Intro series that your student can participate in, if need be! (Look for the donut!)

Supply List
This class will be held using digital devices - iPad or iPhone to complete classwork and homework. Students can use a stylus or their finger. A working knowledge of the digital app is necessary for students - as the programs WILL NOT be taught. (Remember that my Intro series can introduce new learners to Procreate ) If your student would like to join us on paper and pencil, with markers and paints - that is fine too!!!

As a means to help my students, I am continually improving my own skills, I stay current by continually practicing my own art and learning new techniques, while working with my agent in licensing my artwork. I stay current in my field so that I can keep my students current on trends and methodology.

Please note:
*My classes cover a lot of material and are jam-packed full of information that deal with the nuts and bolts of the apps that I teach.
*My classes are fast-paced and full of information and practical applications.
*For most classes, uploads are required before class begins. Please check the classroom beforehand to ensure that all the files are loaded and ready to go in the Procreate gallery. We need every second of class time for instruction.
*I strongly encourage students to take my classes in order. There are many things to be learned in each class and each lesson builds on material presented in the previous classes.
*While I am teaching, I can not answer emails and try to honor my families time by keeping office hours of M-Fr 9-5 for communications.
One last note: It is better for your student to take my classes on two devices ---one to draw on and one to watch the Zoom class! If this is not an option, remember that the recordings will be available after class!! My classes are jam packed with information and tend to move quickly!
