Love digital art and looking for a "tribe" to learn alongside? Join me in this class - where we will come together weekly. This class can be completed on whatever digital app you are most familiar with. The best way to learn is by doing! Join me each week as we discover a new technique or unexplored aspect of the programs. Week by week you will increase your knowledge of the app, increase your painting skills and even have some fun along the way! Each lesson is a stand alone lesson and you can join at any time! The subject for each lesson will be ever changing as I assess the needs of individuals, and the group as a whole. An example of how we will break down paintings to encompass all of the attributes that lead to a successful piece: Week 1 Physical form/shape- creating depth through lighting and shading. Week 2 Environments and backgrounds- creating a space for your characters to live. (may involve 1 point and 2 point perspective depending on needs of students) Week 3 Texture How to get away from the flat feel of digital painting and make it look more traditional. Week 4 Lighting Indirect, direct and rim lighting to awaken your subjects. ***This class will move along quickly as it operates on the understanding that the student has an understanding of the user interface (UI) of their chosen digital drawing program. Concepts and projects are presented, and students are encouraged to make them their own by infusing their style and their own techniques. This is not a directed drawing class**** If you are looking to stretch your student while increasing their knowledge- this is the class for you! Students in this club are operating at a high level of understanding of their Procreate/drawing apps - this class moves along quickly and offers individuality in the creative process. **This class assumes a complete understanding of Procreate! I will not be teaching the app in this class, rather USING Procreate to explore the various mediums and methods Procreate provides** If your student needs to learn how to use Procreate, please see my Intro series before enrolling. We will work on projects that are student driven, offering critiques, help and conversation as we creatively gather around the same weekly painting project. You have found your tribe :-) I look forward to seeing you in class!

Procreate( or Procreate Pocket) is a drawing app that will be used for these classes. In terms of adhering to COPPA guidelines, Procreate and Pocket Procreate does not collect, use, or disclose personal information from children.
Procreate DOES NOT require and personal information as defined below:
It does NOT require:
First and last name;
A home or other physical address including street name and name of a city or town;
Online contact information;
A screen or user name that functions as online contact information;
A telephone number;
A Social Security number;
A persistent identifier that can be used to recognize a user over time and across different websites or online services;
A photograph, video, or audio file, where such file contains a child’s image or voice;
Geolocation information sufficient to identify street name and name of a city or town; or
Information concerning the child or the parents of that child that the operator collects online from the child and combines with an identifier described above.
This is an app that is purchased through the App store as a one time purchase with no additional communication or logging in to access. One purchased- no further contact is necessary nor account to access. .

I am a professional artist, children's book illustrator and stage artist- my works have been exhibited around the world. I love working with the next generation of artists, teaching them my trade and nurturing their talent in an encouraging environment. I am a fast teacher that teaches a lot of information in my classes. Students that have studied with me for years are producing exceptional works that make my heart sing! :-)
I love teaching art to creative young minds and have taught in my community for over 15 years! I have taught homeschool art classes from ages 5-18 and I have also had the privilege of teaching art at local preschools AND I have taught art at nursing homes and retirement communities. This has given me to chance to teach from ages 2-92! I love exploring creativity through the lens of "You can do it - and I can teach you how!" No matter a student's current ability, with proven visual aids and assistance, I can help my students reach their personal goals. If they have the passion to learn, they WILL improve their skills!
As a means to help my students, I am continually improving my own skills, I stay current by continually practicing my own art and learning new techniques, while working with my agent in licensing my artwork. I stay current in my field so that I can keep my students current on trends and methodology.
It is my joy to learn and to teach!
Please note:
*My classes cover a lot of material and are jam-packed full of information that deal with the nuts and bolts of the apps that I teach.
*My classes are fast-paced and full of information and practical applications.
*For most classes, uploads are required before class begins. Please check the classroom beforehand to ensure that all the files are loaded and ready to go in the Procreate gallery. We need every second of class time for instruction.
*I strongly encourage students to take my classes in order. There are many things to be learned in each class and each lesson builds on material presented in the previous classes.
*While I am teaching, I can not answer emails and try to honor my families time by keeping office hours of M-Fr 9-5 for communications.
One last note: It is better for your student to take my classes on two devices ---one to draw on and one to watch the Zoom class! If this is not an option, remember that the recordings will be available after class!! My classes are jam packed with information and tend to move quickly!
