This class is just for fun.Class Experience
Come join me in this digital art camp using the Procreate app that is suitable for beginners and those looking to learn a new skill! In this class, learners will create simple animated GIFs on their iPads using the Procreate app. *Please note that at this time, Procreate is only available for Apple devices. Students MUST have the Procreate app installed on their device prior to class to be able to take it. It's ok if students need to use the same device for both Zoom and Procreate. A stylus of some kind is highly recommended. If your learner is completely new to Procreate and could use a basic "how-to" use the app before taking this class, check out my Procreate for Beginners class. If your learner has used Procreate to animate before, please check the daily syllabus to make sure they aren't too advanced for this class. On the first day, we'll start by reviewing the main menus, features, and shortcuts in Procreate before diving into our first animation technique. If your child has used Procreate before, this will just be review. If your child is completely new to Procreate, this will be a quick orientation so we can get started. Students will be able to follow along step by step each day as I guide them through the creation process with a shared screen, verbal directions, and messages in the chat box if needed. I also post a PDF guide of the day's lesson after class for students who need to catch up or would like to revisit the lesson. Students will be encouraged to ask questions if they need help or need the lesson to go at a different pace. Students are always welcome to make their project look exactly like mine, or customize it in any way they want. Day 1: On day one, we begin with introductions and an overview of Procreate features, brushes, and shortcuts. Then we create an animated birthday card using overlapping layers to make sprinkles on the cupcake move. Day 2: After check-in on day two, we use the selection tool to animate a dog wagging its tail in a park. Day 3: After check in on day three, we learn about onion skin layers and use the liquify tool to animate a jiggling blob. Day 4: After check-in on day four, we draw a character and move it across the screen. Then we add a background and foreground. Day 5: After check-in, we create a cartoon piece of binder paper with a doodle and a cartoon pencil. Then we use the eraser tool to make it look like the cartoon pencil is erasing the doodle. If your learner enjoys this class, I offer several other Procreate classes, including: Procreate for Beginners, Cartoon Yourself With Procreate, Creative Lettering, Procreate Brush Academy, Procreate Skills Workshop: Beginner, Procreate Skills Workshop: Intermediate, and Procreate Private Tutoring.
Learning Goals
Students will learn 5 different techniques for animation in the Procreate app for iPad.
