Class Experience

We will look at the basic idea of probability and odds and then apply that concept to games. Games such as yahtzee and other dice games, and poker and other card games include decisions that can be influenced by the probability that something is likely, unlikely, certain, or impossible. Basic arithmetic skills such as counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are used to calculate odds. It is also necessary to understand fractions, ratios, and percentages to calculate odds. It is also necessary to be able to do some computations mentally. Playing games is a great way to internalize math concepts. We will look at several different kinds of poker as examples.
