During our 3 weeks together, your tween/teen will learn different mindfulness, meditation and pranayama (breathing techniques) that they can then practice at home. No prior knowledge of meditation is necessary. Just a willingness to learn tools to become more focused, balanced and relaxed. Here is a more detailed break-down: Class #1: We'll review what mindfulness means and simple tools to incorporate this into their everyday lives, such as specific breathing techniques, how and when to incorporate mindful minutes and simple meditation techniques that we will practice together. Our session will end with a guided meditation for relaxation. Class #2: During this class, we will practice specific pranayama (breathing) techniques designed to calm the nervous system. We will then discuss how those breathing practices felt and discuss ways to work with these at home and in school. Our session will end with a guided meditation for relaxation and positive self-esteem. Class #3: We will start class with pranayama and then move into a guided meditation. I will introduce the gratitude journal and the kids will then have this to work on going forward. Our session will end with a guided meditation on gratitude. Supply List
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1-2 hours per week outside of class. Handouts provided by the teacher. Suggested props: an eye pillow or yoga mat for laying down on the floor.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
