Class Experience

This class will be an intensive class for pre-teens and teens who want to start learning Japanese. This class will be focused on grammar, proper pronunciation, and vocabulary. Each class will begin with a review of material from the previous class, and move on to a new material. There will be a set of slides for each class, that will be later shared with students after the class. Students will be encouraged to ask any questions throughout the class, and will also be encouraged to participate.

Students are not required to have any previous knowledge about Japanese.

The first couple of classes will be focused on writing in Japanese using Hiragana and Katakana. Then we will move on to grammar to form simple sentences. Some topics will be particles, short/long forms, te-forms, negation, past tenses, verbs, adjectives, and more.
These are flexible schedules but will roughly follow this schedule:
Week 1-3: Slides 1-9 Writing, introductions, introduction to grammar, sentences and particles
Week 4-6: Slides 10-18 Review of sentence structures, possession, and continuation of particles + vocabulary
Week 7-8: Slides 19-24 Final review, continuation of grammar, speaking and vocabulary

We will also go over set of vocabularies that students will be asked to study at home for.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, my name is Megumi and I offer different types of Japanese classes. Hopefully you'll find a class that fits you if you're interested in learning the language. I'm a native Japanese speaker, so I hope to bring you an authentic Japanese experience. I have been tutoring/teaching for about 5 years now, and I've had the pleasure of meeting many different students over the years. They've taught me that everyone has a different goal in learning languages, and became the reason I've decided to offer different classes from different angles.
I value that every student is different and I want to make sure my teaching can fit everyone's needs. No matter if you're shy, outgoing, etc, I want to make sure that we can all enjoy the lesson.
Some fun facts about me, I like drawing, sketching, painting, and watching comedy and crime shows (Law and Order SVU, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Friends, The Office, Criminal Minds, etc). If we have any of these in common, I hope I get to talk to you about them!
