Class Experience
In this private xylophone lesson, we will practice fundamental skills related to technique building, including: mallet grip, stroke, playing area, sticking patterns, and more! We will learn various note patterns and exercises (i.e. scales, arpeggios, etc.) in all major and minor keys, and at a variety of tempo markings. Technique exercises will be geared towards the development of a repertoire of melodies that will reflect both student choices and teacher suggestions. Reading music notation, alongside playing some by ear, will be encouraged. Each lesson will be organized by calendar date. (Ex. "September 22", "September 29", etc.) In each class, we will start with a warm-up and several technical exercises. We will then progress to note patterns, melodies, and repertoire. There will be plenty of room for questions, teacher demonstrations, and sharing ideas. No required musical experience or knowledge is needed!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Chris Landi. I currently teach general music to students in preschool through 4th grade. I also have experience teaching instrumental music to students in 4th grade through 12th grade, particularly concert band, jazz band, and marching band. I currently teach private percussion and piano lessons. I love to listen to, compose, and perform music on a regular basis. I have a passion for sharing my love of music with people of all ages!
On Outschool, I am looking to teach music classes related to learning an instrument, learning how to read music, learning the basics of music theory, and exploring the evolution of classical music since antiquity!
I strongly believe that the teaching-learning process should be a collaborative one between teacher and student. As a teacher, I see myself as a guide to help a student navigate their own learning journey. Using a variety of teaching philosophies and instructional strategies/materials is just one way I serve as a facilitator for students' learning. I very much seek to incorporate students' interests and questions into the teaching-learning process. I can't wait to get started teaching you!
Other hobbies include reading, swimming, running, photography, and rooting for Philadelphia sports teams (Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers)!!
