In this ongoing tutoring session, students will work one-on-one with the teacher in order to address the student's individual needs. We can focus on grammar, editing, organization, or any area in which the student needs help. Students should bring a piece of writing that they would like to work on, or we can work on reading/writing homework together. I am happy to accommodate students at any skill level, including students with disabilities. Sessions will be scheduled privately, so please message me to set up a time!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching English and special education to students in grades 7-12 for 20 years. (Not sure I enjoyed doing that math!) I am currently teaching at a public high school, but I look forward to connecting with new students online.
I'm passionate about helping students find their voices in writing, and I have developed a system for text-based writing that has worked for students with disabilities. However, I really love teaching students how to write from the heart, including stories and poetry.
I have taught both middle-level and high school English, and I enjoy reading books together with a group of students. My children are currently obsessed with Percy Jackson, Artemis Fowl, and Harry Potter. I also love teaching thought-provoking adolescent novels for older students.
As a special educator, I have worked with students on the Autism spectrum, as well as students with learning disabilities and emotional needs. Watching students grow and gain confidence in themselves is the reason I teach!
My family and I love to hike, garden, and play board games. We are currently completing an escape room!
