Students will have the option of finishing any work not completed in class outside of class time. Students are always welcome to show their progress at the beginning of class.Class Experience
In this weekly ongoing class students will relax and unwind in a lighthearted and fun ways using watercolor as a tool for creativity, mindfulness and self awareness. Watercolor painting by nature is fluid, changing and often calming. Flow is a state of being in which one finds themselves fully immersed in and enjoying a process or activity, flow state is also highly beneficial to overall health and well being. This weekly, ongoing class will use watercolors as the medium for slowing down, learning to embrace change and build a consistent creative practice for relaxation, self care and personal growth. Students will watch as the instructor demonstrates the technique and have opportunity to ask questions. The class will then be guided through creative exercises practice the technique while building confidence in of themselves and the medium. Artwork will be postcard sized and perfect for mailing to friends and family. In the final minutes of class each week, students will be given the opportunity to share their work and any discoveries they've made. Week 1-4 Watercolor techniques: Week 1: wet on wet mask Week 2: wet on wet bubble blooms Week 3: textures tests Week 4: wet on wet galaxy painting Week 5: color study Week 6: silhouette Week 7: seasonal painting Week 8: delicious desserts Week 9: people's choice Week 10: people's choice round 2 Parents, please be aware that the content of this class is a general guide. As the student begins to gain understanding and explores the medium, I am open to change based on the students needs and interests, therefore this is a general outline of what you can expect students to learn overall in the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn new watercolor techniques each week.
Students will create postcard sized pieces of artwork using techniques suitable for sending through the USPS.

Watercolor paint 2 small jars of water round watercolor brush watercolor paper extra fine point sharpie washi tape pencil white crayon, colored pencil or oil pastel Occasionally we will use salt, rubbing alcohol, lemon juice, coffee grinds or tea bags but these items (along with recurring supplies and an overview of the upcoming lesson) will be posted in the classroom by Sunday evening before class.
