In this one-on-one session, singers will receive help and guidance in musicianship, vocal technique, song suggestion and performance. Singers may also wish to pursue learning to sight read music. Singers who wish to participate in more formal training through adjudicated exams may also do this with Sarah in conjunction with the Royal Conservatory of Music. This involves specific requirements in sight reading, musicianship and performance of classical/folk song repertoire. Singers currently have the option of online adjudications. To learn more about the Royal Conservatory of Music program visit: https://fineartsvoice.com/downloadables A typical lesson consists of vocal technique (warm-ups) and repertoire (song) work. If students desire to learn sight reading and ear training, we will work on this skill as well (no experience is necessary). If the student has a particular song they need help learning, we will work on notes, rhythm, musicality or performance aspects.

-Vocal Technique to keep you from developing bad habits such as straining
-Song selection to make sure you are singing the the perfect song for your age and range
-Foreign Language diction (did you know that a very popular American musical, South Pacific, features french sung by the young Ngana and Jerome?)
-Breathing Technique to make sure you an sing through lines without running out of breath!
-Performance and Acting work to help you tell your story to the audience
-Audition Preparation to make sure you are as ready as can be!
-Sight Reading to help you learn music quickly and identify everything in the music
-Ear Training to help you recognize intervals and pitches
-Rhythm to help keep a steady tempo while you sing!

The joy of music starts at a very young age. As young singers learn about singing, rhythm, pitch, ear training, and creative movement, their appreciation for and music is enhanced and talent nurtured! Performing helps children of all ages gain confidence in many ares of life!
Sarah LOVES working with young musicians. For 8 years, she was a resident teaching artist for the Lyric Opera of Chicago and taught young performers how to produce, write, and sing in their very own opera!
Sarah has been teaching private and group voice lessons for 20 years and is a Royal Conservatory of Music Elementary Certified Voice Instructor. Sarah has both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in vocal performance and pedagogy.
