Homework
1-2 hours per week. It is expected that each musician will practice in between lessons. Expectations will be set based on the student's age and ability level, but will not exceed a requirement of more than thirty minutes per day, five days per week at the very most, for the more experienced violinists.
Assessment
Assessments are informal, with immediate feedback and constructive criticism given throughout the lesson.

Class Experience

These lessons function essentially the same as in-person private lessons. Young musicians are encouraged to sign up for class once a week, and after a trial class, the chosen time slot will be reserved for that student once per week or once every other week, as often as they intend to take lessons. Lessons are structured around the student. We will work together on scales, etudes, and pieces of music that the student is working on either on their own or within the context of an ensemble (i.e. school orchestra or youth symphony). We will also look to strengthen playing ability through technique refinement. Deciding solo material (for those who do not already have music picked out) will be a collaborative effort, with deference going to the musician to ultimately decide what music they choose to play.

As a musician and teacher, I believe there is great power both in making and listening to music. Music has the ability to help a young musician develop confidence in their abilities and in their own potential. I personally believe that everyone can make music. To the young musician - I am excited to meet you and go on this journey together!

A loose structure of lessons week to week for the first month:
Week 1 - Assessment of abilities, musician will demonstrate what they know and we will make a plan for their future musicianship.
Week 2 - Etudes, scales, and other fundamentals catered to musician's abilities
Week 3 - Application of fundamentals to music
Week 4 - Continued work according to the plan made with musician
Learning Goals
Violinists will enhance their ability to make music in accordance with their own desire to hone their skills as a musician.
