Homework
2-4 hours per week. Students in levels 2-4 will be asked to practice 2.5 hours a week. Students in levels 5-7 will be asked to practice 4 hours a week.Assessment
Students will get weekly assignments based on their progress, with written notes form them to reference during the week.Class Experience
This course follows the RCM program of music, supplemented with Suzuki Violin. Students will learn various technical elements, such as scales and arpeggios, studies and etudes, and several pieces of music. At the end of the year, they can either take a practice exam with me or be ready to take the official RCM exams (if desired and if in Canada). After enrolling, please send me a message to let me know what level your child is at, what they have studied previously, and any other important information you want me to know. I teach RCM grades 2-7, and will assess your child as needed to make sure they are at the right level for their need! Student age is not important if they are at the levels indicated. ***PREREQUISITE: This course is not for beginner violinists. Students must have, at minimum, the ability to prepare their violin (tighten strings and bow, tune it with help finding the right pitch, rosining the bow, etc.) and basic posture and correct positioning for holding the violin and bow, etc. ****As this is a music lesson, it is critical for students to have their cameras on so I can see their posture, bowing, fingering, etc.
Learning Goals
Students will learn scales and other technical elements.
Students will learn 3 new songs, memorizing two of them.
Students will prepare for a violin exam and take this exam (either with me unofficially or with an official examiner).
Students will progress one grade level in one year.
