Homework
1-2 hours per week. Weekly practice outside of class is required. 15 minutes - 30 minutes per day according to the student's level.Class Experience
In these one-on-one lessons, we will work week to week building on each lesson. I will assess the student to find appropriate material for instruction. If the student is interested in a particular style (jazz, fiddle, etc.), we will need to build a classical foundation first. We'll get there! A good foundation is important to branch out successfully. These lessons are learner-directed. Each week we will build on the progress made in the previous week. The first lesson will consist of introductions, assessment, and instruction based on assessment. The student will need to purchase a lesson book that we agree is the correct level for the student and have it ready to go for the next week. If for some reason this isn't possible, I will help you with the material but due to copyright, you will need to purchase the lesson book. Every week the student will have an assignment to practice. These will be built on the progress made the week prior. We will focus on discipline, technique, musical expression, and performance skills. As someone who has taught many people, I understand that everyone absorbs concepts a little differently. I try to work with the student in each lesson and express things in different ways to help the information "click". There is no prior knowledge or experience required! We can start from the very beginning. If you're an advanced player - no worries... I'll help you take your playing to the next level!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from Southeast Missouri State University
Hello! My name is Ms. Lindsay. I have a Bachelor of Music degree with emphasis in violin performance. I have been teaching for 16 years to people of all ages and have been playing violin and piano for 23 years! I have years of performance experience with the Southeast Missouri State Symphony and the University City Symphony Orchestra. I accompany children and coach them for solo and ensemble competitions. My favorite performance setting would definitely have to be playing in orchestra pits for musicals and operas! I've played in more orchestra pits than I can count. Some of my favorites are Into The Woods, Peter Pan, and Die Zauberflöte (aka The Magic Flute).
I teach private violin lesson for all levels as well as group classes for beginning violinists. I love to connect with my students, listen to their joys and concerns and give positive constructive critique to help them grow as musicians. In my private lessons, I tailor the lesson to the child's specific learning styles and interests. Want to learn classical music? Fiddle? Jazz? Pop? I've got you covered. I start my students with a classical foundation and then branch out into any style they might be interested in.
Besides teaching music, I love to perform with other musicians, cook, bake, crochet, listen to audio-books and learn new skills! I look forward to meeting you!

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS:
Per Outschool's limited refund policy: "Full refund within 24 hours of purchase or up to a week in advance of the class.", missed appointments do not qualify for refund. I will be glad to transfer your learner to another section but require 24 hours' notice.
For one-time classes:
If within the week, you realize you won't be able to make class, please submit a transfer request from the classroom at least 24 hours in advance. This ensures another student who would like to take the class has enough time to see the opening and enroll.
If contacted after class, I cannot refund or transfer. I do understand personal/family emergencies come up and will do my best to support you if I am contacted before class. If your learner is withdrawn on your end within the non-refundable period, I am unable to transfer you. It is best to contact me first for your options.
*Refund/Transfer Policy*
Per Outschool policy, there are no refunds for missed classes. I will be glad to transfer your learner to another section but require 24 hours' notice. This timing is necessary in order to fill the spot you are vacating. If I transfer you on short notice, I may not be able to fill your original spot, which means you are taking up two spots but only paying for one.
